The Constitutional Council made public, on Monday, September 14, the list of candidates selected for the October 2020 presidential election in Côte d’Ivoire. These selected candidates are, Alassane Ouattara, outgoing president and candidate of the Rassemblement des houphouetistes pour la democratie et la paix (RHDP), the former President of the Republic, Henri Konan Bédié, candidate on behalf of the Party Democratic Republic of Côte d’Ivoire (PDCI), Pascal Affi N’guessan, candidate on behalf of the Ivorian Popular Front (FPI) and the former PDCI youth president, Kouadio Konan Bertin (KKB), who is running in this independent election.
Considering that MM. Kouadio Konan Bertin, Pascal AFFI N’guessan, Bédié Konan Henri and Alassane Ouattara meet all the legal conditions, it is appropriate to include their names on the list of candidates, declared the president of the constitutional council, Koné Mamadou. “The final list of candidates for the election of the President of the Republic of October 31, 2020 is fixed as follows Alassane Ouattara, Affi n’guessan Pascal, Bédié Konan Aimé Henri, Kouadio Konan Bertin”, declared Mr. Koné adding that this decision will be published in the official journal of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.
All the other files were declared inadmissible for incomplete files, in particular non-payment of the deposit of 50 million FCFA, non-registration on the electoral list, non-achievement of the number of sponsorships in the regions. Thus, out of the 44 application files, only four were selected.
