In a decree read yesterday Tuesday, September 15, on state media, President of the Republic Alpha Condé once again extended the state of health emergency with a view to halting the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in Guinea. With the current barrier actions, this new decree comes into force as of this Wednesday, September 16, 2020.

Human rights defenders and the opposition accused the Guinean authorities of using the pandemic as a pretext to quell the protest in a busy election year, culminating with a presidential election scheduled for October 18, 2020.

As a reminder, Guinea officially declared 10,111 cases of coronavirus contamination, including 63 deaths.
