Mike Tyson will vote for the first time in his life at 54. The former boxing champion himself announced it in a tweet.

“It will be the first time that I vote – he writes – I never thought that I could do it because of my criminal record. I am proud to be able to finally do it.” Tyson was denied the right to vote after being sentenced in 1992 to six years in prison, among other crimes, for rape. He was released from prison after three years in prison. In the United States, approximately six million voters were unable to vote in 2016 due to their criminal records.

Tyson will be able to vote because his state, Nevada, has signed a law that restores the right to vote for those on release from prison by 2019. Tyson did not mention his electoral preferences, it is not clear whether he will vote for Donald Trump or Joe Biden. However, in the 2016 election, he supported the current President of the United States. “He should be president of the United States – he said at the time in an interview with Donald Trump.
As a reminder, Trump and Tyson are two old acquaintances. On several occasions in the 1980s, the then magnate had promoted the matches of the former boxing champion.
