The inaugural match at Stade d’Ebimpé will pit Asec against Africa Sports in Abidjan, the Ivorian Football Federation announced.
The inaugural ceremony of the Ebimpé Stadium will take place on Saturday 03 October 2020, in the presence of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Alassane Ouattara.

The ceremony will be marked by a gala match scheduled for 5 pm, where the two big clubs of the Ivory Coast, Asec and Africa Sports of Abidjan will face each other.

As a reminder, the Olympic stadium of Ebimpé, nicknamed “Arc de Triomphe” 1, will be a multipurpose stadium, able to accommodate football, rugby and athletics, in Ebimpé and Anyama, north of Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire. It will be the national stadium of the Ivory Coast national football team.

The stadium will have a capacity of 60,000 seats and will be built by the Beijing Architectural Design Institute. While the stadium will cover 20 hectares, a large Olympic village is planned around 287 hectares.

On December 22, 2016, Prime Minister Daniel Kablan Duncan inaugurated the launch of the work, with the presence of a delegation from China2. The work is expected to be completed in October 20193.

With a capacity of over 60,000 seats, Chinese engineers promise that the stadium will be one of the largest and most modern in Africa.

The stadium is set to host the opening ceremony and the final of the 2021 African Cup of Nations.
