The RHDP Political Council met today, Tuesday November 17, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sofitel Hôtel Ivoire, under the chairmanship of HE Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, President of the Republic, President of the RHDP.
This important meeting, the first since the presidential election, was extended to the structures and elected officials of the party.
The agenda for this working session focused on the analysis of the socio-political situation following the presidential election of October 31, 2020.
Before addressing the agenda for the meeting, the Political Council observed a minute of silence in tribute to Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly and Minister Sidiki Diakité, Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization.
At the end of these exchanges which took place in a spirit of frankness, openness and responsibility after the insights and political orientations of the President of the Party,
The Political Council has decided as follows:
1) The Political Council notes with satisfaction and pride that the presidential election of October 31, 2020, which appeared to be a wager, a challenge, was indeed held and generally went well, as attested by the reports of the international observers, nationwide and abroad in 18 countries in Africa, Europe and America.
2) The Political Council sends its warmest congratulations to President Alassane OUATTARA, for his brilliant election at the end of a democratic, transparent and credible ballot, with a score of 94.27% and a participation rate of 53.90% and assures him of its unwavering support.
3) The Political Council renews its strongest thanks to President Alassane OUATTARA, for having responded favorably to the party’s call, by agreeing to stand as a candidate for the election of October 31, 2020, in order to maintain the unity of the party and guarantee peace and stability in Côte d’Ivoire.
4) The Political Council thanks the activists, activists and sympathizers of the RHDP and all Ivorians, for their great mobilization which allowed this brilliant and crushing victory of the candidate of the RHDP.
5) The Political Council particularly thanks the National Campaign Directorate led by Prime Minister Hamed BAKAYOKO and all his team for the colossal work done.
6) The Political Council salutes the political maturity and the republican sense of the people of Côte d’Ivoire who have shown exceptional mobilization and unwavering determination, by going massively to the polling stations to express their rights vote, despite threats of all kinds and attempts to prevent the election of October 31, 2020.
7) The Political Council congratulates the Constitutional Council and the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI), institutions in charge of the electoral process, for their high sense of republican duty and the good mastery of the organization of the election of October 31, 2020, as well as the diligent publication of results.
8) The Political Council congratulates the defense and security forces who supervised the election of October 31, 2020 with professionalism and responsibility, thus avoiding any harmful slippage and detrimental to our country.
9) The Political Council notes, however, with regret that in some localities, the ballot was prevented by the use of serious violence and criminal acts which unfortunately caused loss of human life and significant material damage, following the call for an active boycott and civil disobedience launched by part of the opposition.
10) The Political Council condemns such uncivil acts, constituting serious criminal offenses and contrary to democratic values, which should serve as a framework for civilized electoral competition. It encourages the competent authorities to find and prosecute all the perpetrators and accomplices of such acts.
11) The Political Council bows to the memory of the missing, offers its condolences to the grieving families, wishes a speedy recovery to the injured and expresses its compassion to the Ivorians affected by this unnecessary violence.
12) The Political Council asks the Government to situate as soon as possible all the responsibilities of the authors of this barbarism, the purpose of which was obviously to plunge our country into another electoral crisis.
13) The Political Council, while welcoming the establishment of the RHDP on the whole of the national territory, however regrets that the structures at the base are not sufficiently supervised and were not more effectively used during the presidential elections in many regions.14) The Political Council therefore invites all national and local officials of the party to unite around the President of the Republic Alassane OUATTARA, in order to provide him with all the necessary support in the happy and fruitful conduct of the new mandate that comes from him. entrust the sovereign people of Côte d’Ivoire.
15) The Political Council welcomes and strongly encourages all the initiatives taken by President Alassane OUATTARA, with a view to re-establishing a peaceful socio-political climate and returning to peace.
The Political Council supports in particular the recent meeting, organized at his request, with President Henri Konan Bédié, on November 11, 2020 and assures him of its support in this process of great political significance which highlights two cardinal values of Houphouetism. : dialogue and the frantic search for peace.
