The Minister of Sports, Paulin Claude DANHO proceeded this Thursday, December 10, 2020, in the conference room, to the installation of the committee of campaign wise men of Ambassador Jacques Bernard Daniel ANOUMA candidate for the election of the presidency of the African Football Confederation (CAF).
“His Excellency the President of the Republic Alassane Ouattara wanted this year Côte d’Ivoire to fully commit to supporting our compatriot, Ambassador Jacques Bernard Daniel ANOUMA in the election of the presidency of the African Confederation of football. He wanted it because the Ivory Coast has regained a prominent place in the concert of Nations (…).

According to the chief sports official in Côte d’Ivoire, “sporting Côte d’Ivoire wants to unite around Jacques Bernard Daniel ANOUMA”. Hence the establishment of this committee of wise men which brings together all the former sports ministers of Côte d’Ivoire, namely, Géneviève BRO-GREBE, Laurent Dona FOLOGO, ZAKPA T. Komenan, René DIBY, Michel GUEU , Siguidé SOUMAHORO, François Albert AMICHIA, Philippe LEGRE, Jean Louis BILLON, Yaya OUATTARA, Bernard EHUI and General Lansana PALENFO, President of the National Olympic Committee. This committee, according to Paulin Claude DANHO, will support the Technical Committee in the design and technical implementation of the campaign.
For Jacques Bernard Daniel ANOUMA, the establishment of this committee of the wise constitutes for him, “an asset”, in his quest to succeed the current president of CAF, the Madagascan HAMAD Hamad.
“When I see you together and see the sum of the experiences and the human and professional resources brought together, then I tell myself that we can go there and win this election,” said Jacques ANOUMA. “For an Ivorian to become the head of CAF for the first time, would be a good thing for our country. It is up to an Ivorian to raise the CAF, here is a prospect of seeing our country return to the concert of great nations. African football must once again become the pride of Africans. If all goes well, we will have another African Cup to play, ”he added.
As for Minister Laurent Dona FOLOGO, speaking on behalf of the Committee of Elders, conveyed to Jacques Bernard Daniel ANOMA the “unanimous support” of the Committee of Elders. For him, his candidacy is a strong sign of a united and united Côte d’Ivoire, despite the socio-political news, which suggests that the country is divided.
As a reminder, in the context of the election to the presidency of the African Football Confederation (CAF), the Government of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire decided, during the Council of Ministers of November 25, 2020, to bring his support for the candidacy of our compatriot Jacques Bernard Daniel ANOUMA.
