The Milan Court of Appeal upheld the nine-year prison sentence handed down to Brazilian footballer Robson de Souza alias Robinho. He was convicted of participating in a gang rape of a young Albanian woman at a nightclub in Milan in 2013.

Note that the girl was in Milan to celebrate the 23rd birthday of an acquaintance.

Santos, who announced the return of the 36-year-old Brazilian striker in early October, suspended his contract shortly after following pressure from the sexual violence conviction he received in Italy.

In a statement released by Santos, it was explained that the operation has been suspended so that the player can “focus exclusively on his defense in the process taking place in Italy”.

Robinho denied the charges in 2014, when news broke that Italy was investigating him for the events.
