The Student and School Federation of Côte d’Ivoire (Fesci) has expressed its anger against Minister Kandia Camara and the Ministry of National Education, Technical Education and Vocational Training (MENET-FP). In a statement made public this Thursday, December 17, FESCI accused Kandia Camara of sabotaging awareness-raising actions against early Christmas holidays.

BEN-FESCI DECLARATION

The phenomenon of early leave

The phenomenon of early leave is now a real problem for the Ivorian education system. Its eradication therefore requires the involvement of all stakeholders. It is in this sense that the Student and School Federation of Côte d’Ivoire (FESCI) has been undertaking awareness campaigns for years on the need to respect the hourly quantum.

However, we do not understand the attitude of the Ministry of National Education, Technical Education and Vocational Training (MENET-FP).

Our awareness campaigns have not only not received the support of the line ministry, worse the ministry has prevented us from accessing institutions in some localities under the spurious pretext that our organization does not exist in high schools and colleges.

The obstacles set up by the national education ministry have put a strain on our awareness campaign. Which brings us this year to the deplorable events of GOHITAFLA, GRAND-BASSAM, BOUAFLÉ etc.

However, these events must be dissociated from the actions of protest against the exclusion from classrooms of some of our fellow students for non-payment of COGES contributions in localities such as ISSIA, SAЇOUA etc.

Be that as it may, the Fédération Estudiantine et Scolaire de Côte d’Ivoire (FESCI) strongly condemns acts of anticipation of leave, urges all students to show responsibility and to the imperative need to respect the hourly quantum and school program.

She also condemns, with the utmost energy, the mistakes made by the police and calls for those responsible for these police mistakes to be held accountable for their actions before the law.
