The World Health Organization (WHO) will convene a membership meeting to discuss strategies to combat the novel strain of coronavirus.

The Geneva-based organization has warned of a major alarm over the new strain of coronavirus and said it is normal for the pandemic to develop. They praised Britain for detecting the new mutant. In a statement on Tuesday, the WHO reiterated that there was not yet enough information to determine whether the new strain could affect the effectiveness of the vaccine, saying research was ongoing, according to AlJazeera.

As a reminder, COVID-19 is the disease caused by a new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2. The WHO learned of the new virus on December 31, 2019, when an outbreak of “viral pneumonia” cases was reported in Wuhan, People’s Republic of China.
