Blogger Alexey Navalny to be taken to Babushkinsky court in Moscow for hearings on open case for slander against veteran of WWII, court press secretary Alexandra Savelyeva told the news agency Russian TASS.
“Navalny will be brought into the courtroom for personal participation in the session,” she said.
According to the prosecution, Navalny uploaded a video on Telegram and Twitter on June 2 in which World War II veteran Ignat Artyomenko expressed his civic position in favor of the constitutional amendments. Navalny knowingly made false comments that damaged the honor and dignity of the Veteran and damaged his reputation, thereby causing the Veteran to suffer moral suffering. Navalny doesn’t admit his guilt. The slander article provides for a fine or compulsory works.
Previously, a court had replaced Navalny’s suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case with a real one. He is being held at the Matrosskaya Tishina Detention Center.
