MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT LAURENT GBAGBO ON THE LEGISLATIVE ELECTIONS OF MARCH 6, 2021
After ten long years of absence from the country and following my acquittal by the International Criminal Court, I will be with you soon. I know the suffering you have endured on my behalf and on behalf of the people of Côte d’Ivoire. Therefore, I would like to pay tribute to all the victims, to all those who lost their lives in the struggle for democracy in our country.
I cannot ignore the tragic death of young N’GUESSAN Koffi Toussaint, beheaded in Daoukro during the protests against the 3rd term. I am also thinking of all these political, military and civilian prisoners, in particular the young people, including Deputy Secretary General KOUA Justin, spokesperson for the Party.
With my return, I intend to take my place in the process of national reconciliation and contribute to the reestablishment of the bonds of fraternity, conviviality and solidarity which have always characterized our people. In this regard, I welcome the establishment of a national committee responsible for welcoming me at the initiative of my Party.
I express my gratitude to the eminent personalities who agreed to serve on this committee. It is a surge of solidarity that is in line with our permanent quest for more democracy, freedom and progress in our country.
In this perspective and on the occasion of the legislative elections of March 6, 2021, I urge all our fellow citizens to vote massively on our candidates (EDS) in the electoral districts where we are either alone or in alliance with the PDCI- GDR.
See you soon.
