INTERFAX.RU – The signing of documents following talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joseph Biden is not yet scheduled, the Kremlin said.
“No, it has not yet been discussed, it is not yet planned,” Russian President Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, answering the relevant question.
Peskov also said it was unlikely that Putin, in a meeting with Biden, himself would raise the issue of sanctions.
“You know that President Putin himself does not raise the issue of sanctions. He does not, because Russia has never supported such sanctions exercises. You mentioned President Biden’s words that sanctions are not effective on Nord Stream. Our point of view is simply that sanctions are ineffective in general “, – said the spokesperson.
Peskov therefore answered the question of whether the topic of sanctions will be raised at the summit and whether after the meeting the rhetoric of sanctions can be expected to disappear.
Earlier, the Kremlin press service announced that the meeting between Putin and Biden would take place on June 16 in Geneva. The White House has confirmed this information.
It will be Putin’s first personal meeting with the new US president. Earlier, the heads of the two states spoke by telephone, the last time being on April 13.
