Kabul President (BNA) Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with prominent Afghan political and jihadist leaders on Monday and discussed the current situation in Afghanistan, the Presidential Palace (ARG) said in a statement.

According to ARG, the Afghan leadership decided to quickly equip the public uprising forces so that they could fight the Taliban militants.

“During this meeting, a decision was taken on support for the security forces, to safeguard and maintain the Republic, and on the cohesion, strengthening and rapid equipment of public uprisings against enemy attacks”, can we read in the press release.

The president separately met Sadeq Mudabber, Ustad Mohaqqeq and Younus Qanuni were among the country’s national figures, according to a statement from the presidential press office.

The leaders of the meeting and political figures expressed their full support for republicanism and the country’s security and defense forces resisting the country’s enemy, in different parts of the country.

It comes after public uprising forces criticized Kabul for not providing enough frontline support, as Taliban militants advanced in the capitals of four provinces across the country.
