The President of Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, Minister of National Defense and Veterans Affairs chaired this Friday morning, a session of the Superior Council of National Defense.
Council members took stock of the national security situation, marked by an upsurge in terrorist attacks, and discussed the urgent measures to be taken that this necessitates.
The National Defense Council is being held three days after the terrorist attack on Wednesday between Arbinda and Gorgadji, in Soum province.
The attack resulted in the deaths of 65 civilians and 15 Defense and Security Forces (FDS-military and gendarmes), as well as three Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) according to government sources.
The SDF response to the attack also enabled the neutralization of 58 terrorists and 19 were also recorded on the loyalist side.
In a statement Thursday evening, the national gendarmerie announced that more than 80 terrorists were neutralized and more than 400 others were routed Wednesday, during the attack on the Arbinda-Gorgadji axis.
