In an interview with our colleagues from the 7info news site, the president of the minority branch of the Ivorian popular front, Pascal Affi N’Guessan in a concern of “reconstruction” of the said party launched an appeal to the former First Lady Simone Ehivet Gbagbo to safeguard the values of the Ivorian Popular Front, after President Laurent Gbagbo’s announcement relating to the creation of a new party.

It should be remembered Madame Simone Ehivet Gbagbo was one of the linchpins from the early hours of this great left-wing democratic party in Ivory Coast. Below is an excerpt from the interview.

What position will Simone Ehivet Gbagbo take after her husband, former President Laurent Gbagbo’s call to break with the Ivorian Popular Front (FPI)? For Pascal Affi N’Guessan, the place of the former First Lady is within the political formation that she co-founded.

“I know that lately, Simone, you have been thinking deeply because the situation created by President Gbagbo really makes us think. But know that your place is in the Ivorian Popular Front, ”he invites in an interview with 7info.

Even if at the political level, Simone Gbagbo and him have “very often been competitors” for the “succession of Gbagbo” as he recognizes it, Pascal Affi N’Guessan points out that the former member of Parliament for Abobo is his “big sister” . Better, he says, she is “one of the founders and activists of the early days of this party.” So he believes that Simone Gbagbo must continue to campaign there.

“This party exists, you can’t give it up and this is where you belong. And we must be able to find together the necessary accommodations to stay together and to continue together the fight for freedom and democracy as well as the rebirth of Côte d’Ivoire, ”he calls.
