The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, congratulated Venezuelan Lisbeli Vera who won the first silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
The Venezuelan head of state, via his account on the social network Twitter, stressed: We feel great pride in our hearts when we see Lisbeli Vera achieve another victory for Venezuela.
He adds that “she ran, fought and won, she carries the greatness and courage of the Venezuelan woman. Congratulations Lisbéli!
Note that Lisbeli Vera Andrade is currently one of the best para-athletes in the world and Venezuela’s great medal hope at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
Born without part of her left arm, the 19-year-old nonetheless had to overcome the bullying of her childhood before succeeding.
“When I was in school, I was teased for missing that part of my body, and it always made me feel different. I locked myself in my house and said I didn’t want to go out.” , she said.
