Russia is deploying an S-400 anti-aircraft missile division to Belarus as part of strengthening ties to counter Western threats.
As Russian aviation portal Avia.Pro reported on Monday, the Russian Federation sent S-400 “Triumph” air defense systems to the Grodno region (Belarus) by rail, after the Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed to his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, his strong support in all fields.
The media, citing Belarusian sources, notes that this Russian division will not participate directly in the Russian-Belarusian military exercises “West-2021”, but will be permanently deployed near the western borders of Belarus.
Avia-Pro adds that another source consulted claimed that the shipment of this military cargo is linked to the creation of a joint training center between Minsk and Moscow for their respective special troops of the Air and Defense Forces in the Grodno region.
