The Ivory Coast
, for its first match, was held in check Friday by Mozambique (0-0) in Maputo, on the first day of the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.
It should be noted that the performance of the elephants was not up to par, against a Mozambican team which was nevertheless acceptable, but it must be recognized that the pitch at this stadium played a big role in this draw. At the end of the match, the elephants were at Maputo airport, heading for Abidjan to prepare for the Cameroon match.
To conclude, the Elephants will have to forget about this match, and improve their level of play on the second day scheduled for Monday, September 6 at the Olympic stadium in Ebimpé. Patrice Beaumelle’s charges will face the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
