The elephants of Ivory Coast have just beaten the Teranga lions of Senegal in the semi-final of the Afrobasket this Saturday, September 04, 2021 at Arrena Kigali (75-65).
Indeed, the final of the African Nations Men’s Basketball Championship (Afrobasket 2021) will pit Côte d’Ivoire against Tunisia on September 5 in Kigali. The Tunisians beat Cape Verde 75-65 in the Afrobasket 2021 semi-final on September 4, while the Ivorians dismissed the Senegalese by the same score.
The Ivorian selection led the race for most of the game. However, she had to work to push back a Senegalese team back in the game after a 3-point basket from Gorgui Dieng in the 4th quarter. To conclude, the Ivory Coast will try to add a third Afrobasket to its list after those of 1981 and 1985.
As a reminder, the 2021 African Men’s Basketball Championship, or AfroBasket 2021, is the 30th edition of the African Basketball Championship, organized by FIBA Africa.
The tournament, originally scheduled for August 17-29, 2021, finally takes place from August 24 to September 5, 2021 in Kigali, Rwanda, after a reshuffle of the international calendar due to the Covid-191 pandemic. The country is hosting this competition for the first time.
